The short version: Your financial data never leaves your Google account. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal information. Enhance Finance runs entirely inside your own Google Sheet — we have zero access to your spreadsheet data.
1. Overview
Enhance Finance ("we," "our," or "us") is a personal finance tracking system built as a Google Sheets template. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our product.
Enhance Finance operates entirely within Google Sheets using Google Apps Script. Our product includes optional AI-powered features that utilize the Anthropic Claude API for transaction categorization. By using Enhance Finance, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Purchase information: When you purchase Enhance Finance through Etsy, your transaction is handled entirely by Etsy. We receive your order details (name, email) solely for the purpose of delivering your product and providing customer support.
License activation: If you purchase the AI-powered version, we collect your email address to issue and manage your license key.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Bank account numbers, routing numbers, or login credentials
Credit card or payment card details
Account balances or net worth information
The contents of your Google Sheet (budgets, categories, amounts)
Personal financial history or transaction records
Location data, device identifiers, or browsing history
3. Google User Data & OAuth
Enhance Finance uses Google OAuth 2.0 to authorize Google Apps Script to operate within your Google Sheet. This is required for the built-in automation features (dashboards, formulas, and AI sorting) to function.
What Google Data We Access
Google Sheets data (read & write): The Apps Script reads transaction data you paste into the sheet and writes categorized results, dashboard values, and formula outputs back to the same sheet. All of this occurs within your own Google account.
What We Do NOT Access
Your Google Drive files (beyond the specific Enhance Finance spreadsheet)
Your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or any other Google services
Your Google account password or authentication tokens
Important: All Google Sheets data processing occurs locally within your Google account through Google Apps Script. We do not have the ability to view, access, download, or extract any data from your spreadsheet. Your financial data never leaves your Google account — with one narrow exception described in Section 4 (AI Processing).
Limited Use Disclosure
Enhance Finance's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. AI Transaction Processing
If you use the AI-powered transaction sorting feature, the following data handling occurs:
What Is Sent to the AI
Transaction descriptions only — the text that appears on your bank statement (e.g., "SKIP THE DISHES," "AMAZON.CA," "METRO #1234"). These are the raw merchant identifiers your bank provides.
What Is NOT Sent to the AI
Transaction amounts or dollar values
Account numbers, balances, or bank identifiers
Your name, address, or any personal identifiers
Dates, categories, or any other spreadsheet data
How AI Processing Works
Transaction descriptions are sent via secure HTTPS connection to the Anthropic Claude API, which analyzes the text and returns a category name and merchant name. The response is written directly back to your Google Sheet. Neither Enhance Finance nor Anthropic stores your transaction descriptions after processing is complete.
Anthropic's data handling practices are governed by their own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. When using the Anthropic API, data sent via the API is not used to train Anthropic's models.
5. How We Use Your Information
The limited information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:
Product delivery: To send you the Enhance Finance Google Sheet template after purchase.
License management: To activate and manage your AI feature license key.
Customer support: To respond to your questions or troubleshoot issues.
Product functionality: To enable AI-powered transaction categorization within your Google Sheet (as described in Section 4).
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing to third parties, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose other than providing and improving the Enhance Finance product.
6. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information or Google user data to any third party, under any circumstances.
We share data only with the following service providers, solely as needed to operate the product:
Anthropic (Claude AI): Receives transaction description text only for the purpose of AI categorization. Data is transmitted via secure HTTPS and is not retained after processing. Anthropic does not use API data for model training.
Etsy: Handles payment processing for purchases. Etsy's own privacy policy governs the data they collect during checkout. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Google: Enhance Finance operates within Google Sheets using Google Apps Script. Google's own privacy policies govern how they handle data within their services.
We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI/ML models.
7. Data Storage & Security
Your financial data is stored exclusively within your own Google account, protected by Google's enterprise-grade security infrastructure, including encryption at rest and in transit.
For the limited data we do handle:
License keys and email addresses are stored securely and protected with appropriate access controls.
Transaction descriptions sent to the AI are transmitted via encrypted HTTPS connections and are not stored by us or Anthropic after processing.
We implement reasonable security procedures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of any data we handle.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. However, the architecture of Enhance Finance — where your data lives in your own Google account — means there is minimal data for us to protect in the first place.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Financial data: We do not retain any of your financial data. All transaction data, budgets, and dashboard information exist solely in your Google Sheet, which you fully own and control.
AI processing data: Transaction descriptions sent to the Claude API for categorization are processed in real-time and not stored after the response is returned.
License and account data: We retain your email address and license key information for the duration of your license. If you request deletion, we will remove this information within 30 days.
Purchase records: Order information may be retained as required for accounting and legal compliance purposes.
Requesting Deletion
You may request the deletion of any personal information we hold by contacting us at the email address listed below. Since your financial data lives in your own Google Sheet, you can delete it at any time by simply deleting the spreadsheet from your Google Drive.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access: Request a copy of any personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information.
Portability: Your financial data is already in your Google Sheet — you own it and can export, copy, or move it at any time.
Revoke access: You can revoke Enhance Finance's Google OAuth permissions at any time through your Google Account permissions settings. The spreadsheet and all your data will remain in your Google Drive and continue to function — only the AI-powered features require active authorization.

10. Children's Privacy
Enhance Finance is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you by email (if we have your email address) or by posting a prominent notice on our website prior to the changes taking effect.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your data.
